OS3M Mouse
The awesome mouse sets out to conquer a problem I have yet to see solved in the maker community, a 6DOF, 3D-printable 3D mouse to use for CAD programs (and other modelling applications). I use a name-brand 3D mouse at work most days, but one day I came home and wanted the same capability here. After discovering the cost of a normal 3D mouse ($150-400) and realizing that only one company had a monopoly on 6DOF mice, I set out to make my own. One that is 6DOF, mostly 3D printable, cheap, and open source.

Equatorial Mount using Rotarystage, 6502 Computer
I have made an improved version of the equatorial mount system from my telescope mount controller project last year and present it here as a separate project. The concept is as follows. 1) To increase the payload capacity of the equatorial mount by a factor of 2 or more, the mechanical structure is enlarged by a factor of 1.5. 2) The motor controller of the equatorial mount will be the same as MCT-6 as much as possible. 3) The computer part is to be newly built as a small size machine compatible with PERSEUS-9. As a result, the payload capacity of the new homemade system YTM-4 has been about 14 kg, which enables operation of a telescope with an aperture of 20 cm to 30 cm, an effective aperture for planetary observation. The control unit has been now compacted and suitable for my operation.

SATtiny
After seeing the great sculptures form Mohit Bhoite, I fellt in love with his satellite sculpture. For my own satellite sculpture, I set the goal to see it blinking not a few hours but the whole night! and also to have the chance to choose the pattern I wanted, may be emulating an RC discharge curve or even morse code. For that, a micro controller was needed. Looking at the market I found the ATTinyxxV line to be one of the most suitable for this project. The circuit has just few parts but the results are just great. I have assembled two of them, they sit next to my desk window already since a few months and they work just perfectly! How it works? During the day, a super cap is loaded thanks to the solar panels. The Attiny checks this status every 8 seconds and in case of absence of enough power to charge the super caps (absence of light) the blinking routine starts. The sleep current was measured around 4uA. The blinking interval has been set so it can blink up to 7 hours.

DIY Knit Portrait
I created 2 programs that lets you make your own "Knit" pictures. Based on the description of how the algorithm for the original Knit pictures works, I created my own algorithm that takes an image and converts it into a string picture. Knit_Generator.exe can convert images to string pictures and exports the instructions. Knit_Instructor.exe can open the instructions and tells you how to string the frame. Disintegrated LM3909 - 1.5V LED Flasher
There are many projects whose sole purpose is to flash an LED using a single battery. Many of them rely on a 555 timer or a low power microcontroller such as an ATTiny. But did you know there was an integrated circuit created just for this task? National Semiconductor's LM3909 is a "monolithic oscillator specifically designed to flash Light Emitting Diodes". It operates from a single 1.5V battery and would still boost the battery's voltage to 2V even when the battery falls as low at 1.15V. Unfortunately, these IC's are no longer manufactured and becoming harder to find. They sell for approximately $10 on the secondary market, if they can even be found. Lucky for us, the schematic for the IC is printed in the data sheet, so I was able to rebuild it using discrete components on a small form factor PCB. The BOM cost from Mouser is only $2.70 and parts can be had for about $1 if sourced from China. My PCB can even hold the (originally) external capacitor and LED
